Wenger Men's 70430 Nomad Compass
Red LED Black Silicone Strap Watch
Bold and sporty looking, the Wenger Men's Nomad Compass Red LED Black Silicone Strap Watch is tough enough for outdoor adventures but stylish enough for indoor wear. It also bears a pedigree: Swiss company Wenger was one of the original manufacturers of the Swiss army knife in 1908, and the company applies the same exacting engineering standards to its products today. Featuring a timing bezel that doubles as compass, the versatile watch also boasts both an analog display and a digital readout. Luminous hands sweep around a black dial that boasts easy-to-read Arabic numerals in white. A black plastic band fastens securely to your wrist with the help of a buckle. The timepiece is cased in sturdy stainless steel and is water resistant to 330 feet (100 meters).

This is Wenger's latest edition, released in July, and it's a Swiss Army knife in a watch for sure. I think this watch is very cool because of the stealth digital complications. There is no hint that this is a digital watch except the pushers and PVC labels on the bezel. The face is a beautiful black with a nice sun ray reflection. It's only with the push of one of the buttons you see the very easy to read, large red led display hidden beneath.
It's super easy to set up, only three pages in the manual, took me a grand total of about 2 minutes.
The compass has the ability to pre set the magnetic declination to your location, also very easy, and there is a list of the declinations for most major cities around the world in the manual as well as a web address if your town is not there.
The compass is displayed for 30 seconds with a push of it's button, and there is an illuminated arrow at the 12 o'clock position, right under the Wenger logo. I checked the compass against my gps and it's right on. It' displays 0-359 degrees, and of course has to be held horizontal to the ground to work.
The day, date, and time are all displayed for 2 seconds with a push of their dedicated button.
The watch is 43mmx13mm and is very light on the wrist. On shortcoming literally, is that the band will fit a wrist no larger than 7 1/2 inches. Mine is 7 1/2 and I'm the 3rd hole and there is just enough strap to reach through the two keepers.
One thing I did find that is a bit odd, the numbers and markers are super luminova, and very bright and easy to read at night, but the hands have no lume. I am guessing it for ease of use of the compass, and the bright red digital time is a button push away.
The watch is Swiss made, the company says it has a "specialized Swiss quartz movement" so I'm not able to tell you much more about it without taking the back off, which is screw down stainless by the way.
All in all I'm very happy with this watch. It's sporty looking, but you could wear it with a sport coat, or out to dinner, and it's ready for the trail or kayak, if all you need is a compass; it is 100 meter water resistant. You may also find an interesting offers about this watch on Amazon for about less than $300.
